MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN TRACK

Lydia Butkowski (left photo) finished second in the girls' triple jump this afternoon and qualified for the State Track and Field meet.
You can see a video of Butkowski at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HRCYjnYl7M
Butkowski is the only member of the Melrose track and field to reach state this year. Zack Zink, running in the 400, finished in third place, but needed a first or second to be guaranteed a state berth.
Another highlight was the finish of the 4X800 boys relay which again set the school record in that event. The quartet finished in fifth place.
The top six finishers received medals. Medaling for Melrose were:
Jailyn Brinkman, sixth in the triple and long jump
Madison Brinkman, fifth in the triple jump.
Bringing points, but not earning a medal were:
Cally Roering, eighth in the 3100 hurdles.
Caleb Rothfork, seventh in the high jump. (Video below).
Other finishes were:
Lydia Butkowski, 10th in the long jump.
Kayla Herdering, ninth in the discus
Rodrigo Milla 12th in the 200.
Brent Blommel, 14th in the 800
Cally Roering, 15th in the 100 hurdles
