Dutchmen Baseball
The Dutchmen swept a doubleheader 8-3 and 5-2 at Atwater Friday. In the first game, Dillon Haider lead Melrose going 4-4 with double and three runs. Will Stone and Cody Pundsack each had two hits. Brady Birch was the winning pitcher pitching into the sixth inning. Brennen Hoppe earned the save.
In  the second game Hoppe earned the win and Bryce Stalboerger the save. Hoppe helped his own cause with two hit and Birch had two rbi. Stone doubled.
Dutchmen Golf
The Dutchmen find themselves leading the West Central Conference after first place wins at Olivia and Atwater Friday.  
John Brang’s 38 at Olivia tied him for the lead. Nate Loxtercamp led all golfer with a 36 at Atwater.

Sorry for the delay, but it has been busy.
Here are some updates on the Dutchmen sports scene

Tuesday, April 25 was a good day for Melrose sports team.
Dutchmen Baseball
Aggressive base running by Jordan Klaphake enabled the Dutchmen to score five runs on three hits in the 5-0 win over MACA Tuesday. Carter Klasen earned the complete game shut out allowing four hits and walking two.
Melrose Track
Both the boys and girls track teams claimed first place at the Thunder Relays in Long Prairie.
Melrose Softball
The Lady Dutchmen softball team won 9-5 over ACGC. The game was called after five innings because of weather. the team also defeated Holdingford 9-4 this past Monday.

Dutchmen Golf
Melrose finished fourth in the Pre-Section 6AA meet Monday at Sartell. There were 16 teams in the meet. 
Weather Changes
Baseball: The double header with ACGC at Melrose set for Thursday, April 27, will be played Friday, April 28.
Softball: The second game of the double-header with ACGC of Tuesday, April 25, will be played Monday, May 1 at Atwater.
Track: The track meet set of Thursday, May 27 at Sauk Centre has been cancelled.

Lady Dutchmen Softball
Melrose's Kenzie Meyer got the tag down too late to prevent Montevideo from scoring Friday. Meyer had a bright smile at the end of the game after Melrose rallied for nine runs in the sixth inning to defeat Montevideo 13-12 in the first game of the a double-header. Melrose won the second game 8-6 with Meyer getting the save.  Abby Hinnenkamp, was 0-3 going into the game and finished the day 3-5 with triple and three RBI (including the game winning hit in the seventh inning). In the second game she had four hits, including a double and finished the day seven-for-ten.

Dutchmen Golf
Melrose shot a 350 and finished in sixth place in the Minnewaska Invite Friday afternoon.

Dutchmen Baseball
Damon Van Beck and other Melrose defenders played flawlessly in 1-0 eight-inning win Friday over Browerville. The Dutchmen had hits two hits from Van Beck as well as singles by Brady Birch and Peyton Rademacher.  Birch drove in Zac Van Beck with the game inning run. Brennen Hoppe pitched seven innings and  struck out six. Reliever Carter Klasen earned the win.

Melrose posted a 10-7 win over Benson on Thursday.

Lady Dutchmen Softball
Kinze Wolbeck played steady game behind the plate and contributed a hit and a run in Melrose’s 8-3 win over Foley Tuesday.   Melrose gave up three first innings runs, but kept finding ways to score all day long.
