Dutchmen Baseball
Zac Van Beck went back to the left field wall to pull down a fly ball hit by Pierz in the playoffs last week Tuesday.
The Dutchmen have will be playing in the Section 6A playback when the take the field against Wadena Deer Creek in Thursday at 5 p.m.
Melrose fell 1-0 to Pierz in a well-played game Tuesday afternoon.  WDC fell 6-3 in inning innings to Cathederal. In the onther bracket of the tournament Sauk Centre topped Milaca 6-5, scoring in the seventh inning to win, and Foley defeated LPGE 6-2.

Dutchmen Baseball
While the Osakis Silverstreaks indicted their view of a play at the plate, Melrose catcher Logan Funk held up the glove to show the umpire he had the ball.  The umpire ruled in favor of Melrose ending Osakis third inning. Melrose won the game 3-2 to advance in the playoffs. Funk’s seventh inning sacrifice bunt put Brady Birch on second base. Birch later scored on a single by Caldind Rieland.

Lady Dutchmen Softball
Ashley Rademacher reached for and caught possible extra-base hit by Albany Tuesday in the Lady Dutchmen’s 16-0 four inning loss to Albany. Melrose now plays in the playbacks of the 6AA tournament. It faces Pierz Thursday at 5 p.m. in Waite Park. Pierz fell 2-1 to Cathedral. The winner faces either Albany or Cathedral in the final playback game following the 5 p.m. game.

Lady Dutchmen Softball
Holdingford’s Jenna Scott was too late in applying a tag to prevent Whitney Austing from stealing second. Austing, a courtesy runner, scored three runs in the game. Melrose won the playoff game 12-6.
Melrose had big rallies in the fourth and sixth innings to score their runs. Kenzie Meyer earned the win Holly Hellermann had three hits in the game.  Melrose next plays Tuesday in Waite Park.

Lady Dutchmen Softball
Abby Hinnenkamp tagged out Sauk Centre’s Emily Mensen ending a stolen base attempt, but Sauk Centre still outscored Melrose 11-3 this afternoon.  The game concluded Melrose’s season record at 11-4. Playoffs begin on Friday at a site to be announced.

Melrose fell 11-10 at Olivia this afternoon. The team next plays on Thursday hosting Morris.
Monday's Game
Logan Schmitz was among the Dutchmen who played a good defensive game in Melrose’s 11-4 win over LPGE Monday. The Dutchmen had 11 hits and were led by  Will Stone led the attack with two doubles and three RBI.
The Lady Dutchmen were just as successful toping LPGE 12-4. Both team play again this afternoon.

Abby Hinnenkamp played a good defensive game and also had the game winning hit as Melrose rallied for on run in each of the final three innings to defeat BOLD 5-4 Tuesday afternoon in Melrose.

Monday's Games
 Both the Dutchmen and Lady Dutchmen faced Osakis in ball games Monday.   The Dutchmen, with a solid defense topped the SilverStreaks 3-1 at Melrose., Zac Van Beck and Christian Botello splitting the pitching duties.  Timely hits were again a big part of the day as Tyler Moscho, Dillon Haider and Cody Pundsack all had RBIs. Brady Birch and Pundsack both doubled. The Lady Dutchmen found that diamonds aren’t always a girls best friend as they fell 8-5 at Osakis.  Abby Hinnenkamp had three hits for the Lady Dutchmen and Kinzi Wolbeck doubled.
