SWIMMING
The Lady Dutchmen dominated the West Central Conference meet at Montevideo from the start to the end of the meet.  Melrose had 10 first place finishes in the match. They also had five 1-2 finishes.  In  diving and in the 500FS, where the team finished 1-2-3.
The next meet will be Friday and Saturday at Morris, the Section 6A meet.  That meet determines which swimmers and divers advance to the state meet.

VOLLEYBALL
The Melrose Lady Dutchmen held off a determined LPGE team and posted a 3-1 win in the quarterfinals of the 6AA-North sub-section tournament at Melrose.
The 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23 match saw a number of lead changes, long volleys, but few long serving runs.  Melrose's next game will be Tuesday, Nov. 1 in the semi-finals at Sauk Rapids where it will face Little Falls.

CONFERENCE
The Minnesota State High School League has placed Melrose back into the West Central Conference for the 2012-13 sports season. Melrose Area Public School Officials received word on Wednesday afternoon about the placing.
The conference has 10 calendar days from today to appeal the placement.

Tuesday, Oct. 25

FOOTBALL
The Dutchmen fell 28-14 to Zimmerman in the quarter-finals of the 6AAA playoffs at Zimmerman. That ends the Dutchmen's season.
Seth Noll and Alex Welle both scored touchdowns for Melrose. They came in the third quarter when Melrose came back from a 21-0.  Noll also had an interception and recovered a fumble.

Monday, Oct. 24

VOLLEYBALL
Melrose concluded its regular season with a 3-1 win at Pierz.   Melrose hit on 94-of-95 serves with five ace serve.  More on the game will appear in the Nov. 2 issue of the Melrose Beacon.
CONFERENCE
A misunderstanding of the date of the announcement of which conference Melrose will be placed in means the district still does not know. The announcement will be made on Wednesday.

SWIMMING

The Lady Dutchmen finished fifth in the state Class A True team meet in Minneapolis.
It missed a fourth place finish by two points. Melrose was competing in its fourth meet in eight days. More information in the Oct. 26 issue of the Melrose Beacon.

Seth Noll raced passed Sauk Centre defenders .
FOOTBALL
Air Dutchmen was not only off the ground but used long range attacks to post a 25-14 win over Sauk Centre in the final regular season game at Melrose. Quarterback Isaac Sawyer threw touchdown passes to Andrew Welle (seven yards), and tree to Tanner Klaphake (66, 16 and 25 yards).
Melrose finished the regular season winning its last two games.
This may the last time the two football teams will meet for at least a year in that they compete in different classes in football and may not be in the same conference next fall.
Melrose was seeded eighth and will travel to #1 seed Zimmermann to begin post season play on Tuesday night.

TENNIS
Single player Hailey Brinkman missed a shot at going to state after she was defeated in the semi-finals of the 6A tournament at Sartell.
Kayla Uphus and Emily Hellermann (picture right) were defeated in the semi-final of doubles play at the tournament.






SWIMMING


The Lady Dutchmen defeated Little Falls 106-75 at Melrose.

VOLLEYBALL
Briana Schmiesing had a kill in the win over Foley
The volleyball team defeated Foley 3-1 at Melrose.

Monday, Oct. 17

TENNIS
Hailey Brinkman advanced to the section 6A singles semi-finals at Sartell. She won two matches on Monday.
Emily Hellermann and Kayla Uphus advanced to the semi-finals of the doubles competition.
Singles player Grace Brang went 1-1 and the doubles team of Christina Schulzetenberg and Michaela Worms finished 0-1.

FOOTBALL
A last minute touchdown pass from Isaac Sawyer to Tanner Klaphake, helped Melrose to a 29-23 win over Minnewaska on Friday evening. Melrose's final regular season game is Wednesday hosting Sauk Centre.

SWIMMING
Melrose defeated Minnewaska/Morris 107-74 at Morris. Gabi Sawyer set a pool record at 1:02.69 in the 100 Butterfly.
TENNIS
The Lady Dutchmen advanced to the 6A championship with a 5-2 win over Sauk Centre.
They face Osakis in the championship. Osakis defeated Melrose twice this year in regular season competition.
Osakis defeated Melrose 4-3 to claim the championship of the of Section 6A. Osakis will advance to the state tournament as a team.
VOLLEYBALL
Melrose defeated Minnewaska 3-2 at Glenwood. The Lady Dutchmen rallied from loses of 25-20 and 25-23 to win 25-20, 25-16 and 15-9.
CONFERENCE
Melrose will find out later this month which athletic conference it will be assigned to. Melrose made a presentation to the Minnesota State High School League asking to be placed into the West Central Conference, Central Minnesota Conference or Granite Ridge Conference.
Melrose does have tentative agreements for eight football games this fall, a number of volleyball contests and is filling its swimming and tennis schedules for the fall.

The Lady Dutchmen defeated Minnewaska 6-1 in the quarter finals of the Section 6A playoff at Sartell.

VOLLEYBALL
The Lady Dutchmen made it a successful Parent's Night with a 3-2 win over New London-Spicer at Melrose.
The night was back and forth with Melrose winning 25-15, the falling 25-23. Melrose jumped to a 7-0 lead in the third game and won 25-15. NLS took a 25-20 win in the third game before Melrose won 15-13 in the final game.

Play at the net by Shelby Uphoff (7) and LeAnna Thom (12) helped Melrose to a 3-22 win over NL-S.

Albany defeated Melrose 33-0 at Albany.

SWIMMING
Melrose topped Sauk Centre 109-71 in a contest at Melrose.
VOLLEYBALL
Melrose defeated Paynesville 3-1 with scores of 25-14, 25-17, 25-27 and 25-10.

TENNIS
The Lady Dutchmen fell 4-3 to Osakis at Melrose in the final regular season meet.
