MELROSE DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL


Melrose ranked #1in the Class AA ratings defeated previously unbeated Class A#1 rank Belgrade-
Brooten-Elrosa. 87-56 at Melrose.  Scottie Stone,  seen in the video above, scored 44 points to set a Melrose single game scoring record.  The video show him scoring his 41st to break the previous record of 40. Melrose played a strong game under basket rebounding by Ty Reller (right photo) and other kept BBE from getting second shots.

SAUK CENTRE-MELROSE WRESTLING
Sauk Centre-Melrose fell 47-17 to St. Cloud Tech. Tom Latzka pinned his opponent.

PRAIRE CENTER NORTH STARS HOCKEY
Prairie Centre beat Becker/Big Lake 6-4. Trent Berscheit scored twice. Also scoring were Adam Forseth, Preston Pung, Cody Steward and Zach Pierskalla.  Berscheit and Froseth each had an assist. Sam Ecker had three assists.Clay Deters had 24 saves.

The Melrose-Morris Meet was move to Friday, Feb. 1 at Morris.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
The Dutchmen exploded from a 36-32 half-time deficit to defeat Pierz 90-61 at Melrose. Five players led by Scottie Stone's 25 points and Isaac Sawyer's 20 points scored in double figures for Melrose. Also reaching double digits were Seth Noll, Ryan Elfering, and Mitch Niehaus.
Tyler Reller's(left photograph) rebounding helped Melrose keep control of the ball during the second half.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN GYMNASTS

The Lady Dutchmen scored a 149.05, it best of the year in beating Willmar's 140.325 at Melrose.
All five Melrose gymnasts reached at least 34.125 for an all-around score. Jailyn Brinkman (seen on vault rigth) and Lydia Butkowski both scored over 38.00.

M-SC FUSION SWIMMING AND DIVING


M-SC Swimming was topped 106-80 by Sartell at Melrose. 
"Sartell is currently ranked second in class A.  For us to hang with them
as well as we did last night was a good accomplishment for our team,"said head coach Nathan Meyer.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN GYMNASTS
Melrose fell 73-40 to New London-Spicer at New London. Emily Goerdt had 12 points for Melrose.

Park Rapids topped Prairie Centre 2-0. Wyatt Casavan had 25 saves.

Tommy Latzka (145) and Arturo Stefanoni (170) earned all conference honors. Will Funk (126) is all confernence honorable mention.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
Pace by 31 points from Scottie Stone Melrose downed BOLD 78-48 this evening.
Melrose, ranked number two in Class AA is 14-1 on the year. Isaac Sawyer had 18 and Seth Noll 16 in the win.
MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL

Tayler Reller (right photo) and other Lady Dutchmen found in it tough to drive to the basket in the 72-
32 loss to Albany this evening. No Lady Dutchmen reached 10 points in the game.

DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
Melrose's defense turned loose its offense in the 85-62 win over Sauk Centre at Melrose. The Dutchmen out-scored Sauk Centre 55-31 in the second half.  A three-point buzzer-beater by Sauk Centre's Nick Adams gave the Main Streeters a 31-30 half-time lead.
In a 47-second stretch midway through the second half, the Dutchmen converted three straight defensive steals into six points as it took a 57-42 lead. Melrose never really looked back. Scottie Stone (converting a steal into a goal in the video) led Melrose with 30 points. Isaac Sawyer had 19 and Mitch Niehaus (pictured right) added 10 as did Ryan Elfering. Sauk Centre was led by Adams, 29; Pat Knobloch, 19; and Josh Buschette, 11.

LADY DUTCHMEN GYMNASTICS
The Lady Dutchmen, currently rated #1 in state, scored146.0 in their win at Paynesville. Jailyn Brinkman, who finished with 37.725 in the all-around, and Lydia Butkowski,who finished with 37.625 all-around, set the pace for the team.

PRAIRIE CENTRE HOCKEY
The North Stars fell 7-2 to Northern Lakes.  Cody Stewart and Noah Schmitz scored for Prairie Centre.  Clay Deters had 26 saves.

SAUK CENTRE-MELROSE WRESTLING 
S-CM fell 45-25 to Big Lake and 39-26 to Montevideo in a triangular at Sauk Centre.

DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
A strong second half brought Melrose a 70-40 win at Collegeville. Four Players, Isaac Sawyer (20), Scottie Stone (19), and Seth Noll (10) and Mitch Niehaus (10)(in video above)  all scored in double figures.  Niehaus also had 10 rebounds.Sawyer (in photo right) also had five assists.












LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL

Cathedral jumped to a big lead and Melrose fell 61-42 to Cathderal at Collegeville. Gabi Sawyer (video below) led Melrose with 17 points.  Tayler Reller (photo right) had seven points



PRAIRIE CENTER HOCKEY

Prairie Centre defeated Bagley 3-2 at Bagley.
MELROSE ROSETTES DANCE TEAM
The Rosettes finished  8th out of 14 teams in kick and 8th out 8 teams in jazz at Granite Falls.

LADY DUTCHMEN GYMNASTICS


The Lady Dutchmen dominated every routine in their 148.1-121.75 win over Benson/KMS
Melrose finished taking the top five spots on the floor, vault and beam.  Mady Brinkman (on video above helped the team to a strong beam score. On the bars it took the top four spots Lydia Butkowski (left photo back right), Jailyn Brinkman (left photo,front) won the floor












SAUK CENTRE-MELROSE WRESTLING 

Saul Ellering (above) scored one of the two SC-M win in the loss Alexandria on Thursday. Also winning was Will Funk.  Derek Karash won by forfeit. Alexandria won 51-13.
DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
Melrose defeated ACGC 85-70. Scottie Stone (30 points, Isaac Sawyer (20) and Ryan Elfering (14) led the Melrose scoring.

M-SC Topped Sauk Rapids-Rice 108-78 at Sauk Rapids.  M-SC swept the top three spots in the 200FS, 500FS, and 100BK. John Schwieters (left photo) won the 200IM races

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
The Lady Dutchmen fell 63-58 at Long Prairie.  LP-GE lead throughout the second half.  Melrose trailed by 11 with five minutes left and cut the lead to three points before LP-GE was able to seal the win.  Shelby Uphoff led Melrose with 20 points.

Melrose Lady Dutchmen Gymnastics
The Melrose Lady Dutchmen finished third at the Lakeville North Tournament.  Jailyn Brinkman  was the all-around gymnast. Team members were (from left) Lauren Kingston, Lydia Butkowski, Jailyn Brinkman, Kayla Austing and Mady Brinkman.    Melrose scored 145.9 in the contest.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
Led by 11 points from Torri Reller and Emily Goerdt,the Lady Dutchmen posted a 51-31 win over Yellow Medicine East this evening.  Shelby Uphoff finished with 10 points. Melrose next plays Monday, Jan. 14 at Long Prairie. More information will appear in the Jan. 16 issue of the Beacon.
M-SC FUSION SWIMMING AND DIVING
The Fusion posted a 105-21 win at Morris.  The team is 5-1in dual meets. Saturday, they compete in the Section5A True team at Sartell. More information will appear in the Jan. 16 issue of the Beacon.

MELROSE ROSETTES DANCE TEAM
On Monday, Jan. 7, The Melrose Rosettes Dance Team finished third at the B-B-E invite.   The team next competes Saturday, Jan. 12 at Rocori. The Rosettes dance team will host a five-team meet on Monday, Jan. 14 with the National Anthem at 7 p.m. and the performances to follow. Teams included are Rocori, Alexandria, Fergus Falls, B-B-E and the Rosettes. More information willl appear in this week's Beacon.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN GYMNAST
Led by Jailyn Brinkman the Lady Dutchmen scored 143.3 and took first at Watertown-Mayer. Brinkman and Lydia Butkowski finished 1-2 in the all-around. More information will appear in the Jan.9 issue of the Beacon.
M-SC FUSION SWIMMING AND DIVING
The Fusion finished fifth in the Maroon and Gold Swimming invite in the Tiger division of the UofM Aquatic Center. A second place by Ethan Ross, Keenan Pearson, Felipe Barreto and Brent Blommel earned second in 200FSR, SC-M's best finish,1:33.89. Individually  the best finish was a third place by by Barreto in in the 500FS (5:08.99). He also took fifth in the 200FS. Other top 10 finishes were: Eighth by Ethan Ross in the 100FLY, 10 by Aaron Stalboerger in the 500FS, eight by John Schwieters in the 100 backstroke and eighth by the 400FSR team of Ross, Schwieters, Blommel and Barreto. More information will appear in the Jan.9 issue of the Beacon.
SAUK CENTRE-MELROSE WRESTLING
SC-M finished seventh in the invitational at Brainerd. Saul Ellering won the championship of the 220 division.

The Lady Dutchmen fell 50-49 as Benson scored in the last second of the game. Emily Goerdt (right photograph) had 14 points for Melrose.  The Lady Dutchmen had led by as much a five late in the game. In the video below Torri Reller scores for Melrose.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
The Dutchmen's defense, as played by Mitch Niehaus and Ryan Elfering in the photo to the right,  set up quick scoring chances and Melrose capitalize winning 72-36 at Paynesville. Scottie Stone (seen with a steal and score in the video below) had 33 points and Mitch Reller added 10 points.  Melrose trailed 14-10 at one point in the game.
