MSC Fusion Swimming
The Melrose-Sauk Centre (M-SC) Fusion sent school and team records today at Morris as they qualified three relays and three individuals for the State Class A meet.
The state meet will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Competing at state for the Fusion will be Ben Heller, 100 Freestyle (FS), 200FS; Isaac Schreiner, 100FS, 100 Backstroke (BK), Kenny Warzecha, 100 Butterfly (FLY), the 200 Medley Relay (MR) team of Schreiner, Glasener, Warzecha and Enneking; the 200FSR team of Heller, Glasener, Enneking and Warzecha; and the 400FSR team of Enneking, Warzecha, Schreiner and Heller.

Melrose defeated Sauk Centre 51-46 in the playoff game today at St. John's.

SCM Wrestling
Jordan Winter advanced to the quarterfinals of the state meet with a win in the first round. 
In the quarterfinals he fell 13-1. He will now go to the wrestle backs.  
Jordan Winter's season ended with a 7-3 loss in the wrestle backs. Finished the year 28-9.

Dutchmen Basketball

The Melrose Dutchmen Basketball team opened the 2016 playoff season with a 58-29 win over Royalton this evening. Melrose took control of the game early and lead 23-2 at one point in the half. The team, led by Dillon Haider had 12 three-point shots in the game. Haider had four of them and finished with 12 points. Tyler Braegelmann, working his way inside, added 11 more. Thirteen of the 23 Dutchmen who played it the game scored. Melrose used its height and quickness effectively to steal, trap and force Royalton into making turnovers. The Dutchmen face Sauk Centre Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Collegeville. Sauk Centre won 73-42 over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle. In the other semi-final game will have Holdingford and Albany. Holdingford defeated St. John’s Prep 78-47, Albany defeated Osakis 62-27.  In the East-Sub-section  it was Pierz-75 Rush City-48, Braham-86 Milaca-73, Mora-69 Pine City-64 and Cathedral-64 Foley-45. Dutchmen Basketball

The Melrose Dutchmen finished their regular season with a 50-30 win over Minnewaka this evening at Melrose. The 24-2 Dutchmen are the number one seed in the upcoming West-Section 6AA tournament. Tyler Bragelmann finished with 11 points and Drake Meyer with 12 in the win. Video scene are at

The Melrose Dutchmen came up with another close victory topping Osakis 55-52 tonight at Melrose.  Dillon Haider, Colton Meyer and Brady Birch all had 10 points for the Dutchmen.  Video of the game can be seen at

Melrose posted a 53-50 win over ACGC tonight in Olivia. Cassie Klaphake led the team with 21 points and Maci Blommel added 17 in the victory.

 Dutchmen Basketball
The Dutchmen, despite a 23-point lead at one point had to hit free throws and play good defense to win 62-58 over Albany.  
Melrose had a 23-0 lead with 6:30 left in he half. Albany  then went on an 11-0 run, and was able to close the gap before the game ended. Dillon Haider (11) and Drake Meyer (right) both had 18 points in the game Tyler Braegelmann added 11 more. Kyle Birr (12) of Albany had 32 points in the game. Video from the game can be seen at

SCM had four pins its 54-30 win over Bertha-Hewitt/Vernadale.
It also defeated Border West 46-23.
