Kaitlyn Welle (right) and other members of the Lad Dutchmen did their best to work through the St. John's Prep defense but fell 6-0 at Melrose. While the game was commencing the Dutchmen were finishing their game with Hillcrest Academy at Fergus Fall. That resulted in a 14-2 loss by Melrose. On the Melrose tennis courts the Lady Dutchmen scored a 6-1 win over Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa. The cross country teams both finished sixth of 14 teams in a meet at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle. Laura Funk's fifth place finish was the best of any Melrose runner. Preston Poepping finished seventh in the boys' race More on the contests will be in Sept. 20 issue of the Beacon.
The Melrose teams continue action today with the tennis team hosting LPGE and the volleyball team hosting BOLD. The swim will travel to Holdingford for a conference meet.
