MELROSE DUTCHMEN BOYS BASKETBALL
The Dutchmen defeated Sauk Centre 61-52 in a West Central Conference-North match-up at Melrose. Melrose had 25 free throws in the game. 19 of them came in the second half.  Scottie Stone with 19 points, led Melrose. Isaac Sawyer had 17 for the Dutchmen and Mitch Niehaus had 12. Niehaus' steal and lay-up in the final two minutes gave Melrose a five point lead and force Sauk Centre to begin fouling.
Nick Adams led Sauk Centre with 16 points. Patrick Knoblauch had 13 for Sauk Centre.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN GYMNASTS

Sauk Centre defeated Melrose by 12 points in WCC-N match-up at Sauk Centre. Earlier this month Melrose had defeated Sauk Centre. More details will appear in the Feb. 8 issue of the Melrose Beacon.

MELROSE-SAUK CENTRE FUSION SWIMMING AND DIVING
M-SC fell 99-72 to a strong Sartell team at Sartell
M-SC had first place finishes from:
200FS: Ethan Ross 1:59.26
100FLY: Keenan Pearson 58.35
100BK: John Schwieters 1;10.14
100BT: Nathan Welberg 1:13.15
400FSR: Schwieters, Brent Blommel, Aaron Stalboerger, Pearson.
PRAIRIE CENTRE NORTH STARS HOCKEY
The North Stars fell 6-2 to Park Rapids. Derek Holm and Brady Schulzetenberg both scored for Prairie Centre. Justin Brever had 41 saves.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN GYMNASTICS
The Lady Dutchmen finished second in the 10-team State True Team meet at Becker.
New Prague topped Melrose by 1.15 points in the contest.

Roosevelt Austin finished third at 182 and earned all conference honors for the SC-M team.

Prairie Centre fell 4-1 at Willmar. Cody Bartkowicz scored the North Stars goal. Clay Deters had 26 saves.

PRAIRIE CENTRE NORTH STARS HOCKEY

Derek Holm scored twice in the North Stars 5-1 win at Detroit Lakes.
Also scoring were Cody Steward, Nate Mettenberg, and Robby Polipnick. Goalie Justine Brever had 20 saves.

MELROSE-SAUK CENTRE FUSION SWIMMING
M-SC was edged 101-85 at Montevideo. The Fusion had first place finishes from:
Ethan Ross in the 200FSR
Keenan Pearson in the 100FLY. He led M-SC to a 1-2-3 sweep in the event.
and
the 400FSR (John Schwieters, Brent Blommel, Aaron Stalboerger and Pearson). M-SC also finished second in the event.
Jared VonWahlde had his season best in the 200IM.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN GYMNASTS
The Melrose Lady Dutchmen gymnastics team set the school record with a 148.65 score in their win over Paynesville  and Morris.

The Melrose Dutchmen downed Paynesville 82-29 in a conference game at Melrose. All but one member of the team scored in the game.

Sauk Centre-Melrose was defeated 37-36 in a dual meet with Alexandria and 60-10 by Big Lake in a triangular at Melrose.

PRAIRIE CENTRE NORTH STARS HOCKEY
Derek Holm had a hat trickin the 8-2 over Bagley/Fosston.  Also scoring were Cody Steward, Preston Pung, Cody Bartkowicz, Dan Perry and Ryan Conner.
Justin Brever had 18 saves.
MELROSE-SAUK CENTRE FUSION SWIMMING AND DIVING
The Fusion finished 11th of the 12 teams in the Class A State True Team swimming and diving competition. The top individual finish was  in the 100FLY where Keenan Pearson finished 15 58.03 to take fourth place.

LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
New London-Spicer defeated Melrose 65-61 in a battle of the conference leaders Friday at Melrose. NL-S was 4-1 in the WCC-N and Melrose 3-2 following the game.
Melrose had three players in double figures with Annie Herkenhoff leading the attack with 20 points. Jenna Orth added 18 and Emily Goerdt contributed 11 points.
Their efforts, however could not match the strong outside shooting of NL-S's Taylor Thunstedt and Amanda Radel.  Thunstedt dropped in eight three-point shots as she scored 32 in the game. Radel, who had 17 points, hit five three point shots. NL-S had 15 three pointers in the game.

MELROSE-SAUK CENTRE FUSION SWIMMING

 Jared VonWahlde (above) finished second in the butterfly, won was first in the 200IM and swam with the first place 200MR team as the Fusion defeated Rocori 107-74. MSC had 10 firsts including sweeping the butterfly race. Keenan Pearson took first in that race and Ted Uphus was third. More details will appear in the Jan 28 issue of the Melrose Beacon.

SAUK CENTRE-MELROSE WRESTLING
Mitch Wolbeck (right) pinned his opponent in the 120 pound match to help Sauk Centre-Melrose defeat Albany at Melrose. Also scoring a pin for SC-M was Antonio Barrera in the heavyweight division. SC-M did benefit from four forfeits.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
Melrose rallied from a 15 point deficit, but could not earn a win and fell 74-70 to LP-GE in a game a Melrose.
The Dutchmen hit a cold streak mid-way through the second half and were outscored 19-9 at one point.
Rebounding by Mitchel Niehaus (left) and other members of the Melrose  team helped the team to come back and close the gap in the scoring.
Scottie Stone finished with 30 points and Austin Van Beck added 15 points in the loss.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
The Melrose Lady Dutchmen expanded on a 32-18 halftime lead to win 59-43 at Melrose.
Jenna Orth scored from the outside and inside to led Melrose with 15 points.  Emily Goerdt contributed 14 points and Annie Herkenhoff added 13 points for Melrose.
Emily Goerdt had 14 points for the Lady Dutchmen in the win over Minnewaska.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
Led by 21 points from Austin Van Beck and Scottie Stone Melrose topped Minnewaska 80-62 to stay unbeaten in the West Central Conference-North. Isaac Sawyer added 15 points to the Melrose totals.
MELROSE-SAUK CENTRE FUSION SWIMMING
The Fusion defeated Sauk Rapids-Rice 103-83 at Melrose.  Keenan Pearson won the 100FLY, 50Free and was part of the 200FRS first place tea.  200FSR teammates Aaron Stalboerger won the 500FS and Ethan Ross claimed first in the 200FS.

The North Stars posted a 10-2 over Redwood Falls. Scoring for Prairie Centre were:  Cody Steward-2, Nate Mettenberg-2, Ryan Conner, Brady Schulzetenberg,  Robby Polipnick, Cody Bartkowicz, Derek Holm and Tyler Schultz,


Monday, Jan. 16

MELROSE ROSETTES 
DANCE TEAM
The Melrose Rosettes competed in three contests in four days earning a first, three seconds, and two seventh place finishes.
The Jazz Funk team was first at Albany on Jan. 13, seventh at Rocori on Jan. 14 and second at Melrose on this evening. Competing on the same days the high kick finished second at Albany, seventh at Rocori and second at Melrose.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL TEAM
The Dutchmen emerged from Sartell on the positive side of a 75-72 overtime win this evening. Poor freethrow shooting by Melrose and strong field goal shooting by Sartell, led to a 62-62 tie a the end of regulation.  
Scottie Stone, who had 24 points in the game, hit six points in overtime to help Melrose take the win. He dropped in a free throw in the final seconds to help Melrose take the win. Austin Van Beck score 20 points as did Isaac Sawyer.

SAUK CENTRE-MELROSE WRESTLING
The SC-M wrestling team was third at the Hinkley Invitational. Roosevelt Austin and Will Funk earned first place finishes. The team had three thirds and one fifth. More details will be in the Jan. 18 issue of the Melrose Beacon.
MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN GYMNASTICS
The Lady Dutchmen set the team scoring record at 146.85 and finished third in the Lakeville Invitational. Hailey Brinkman earned  seventh in the all-around competition. Melrose's next meet is Thursday, at Morris.

MELROSE-SAUK CENTRE FUSION SWIMMING
The Fusion finished third in the Section 5A true team swim meet.  The team also did well enough to qualify for a wild card berth and will compete in the state True Team meet on Saturday.  Keenan Pearson had the highest individual finish with a third in the 100FLY.  The depth of the relay teams helped the Fusion to qualify for the state meet. More details will be in the Jan. 18 issue of the Melrose Beacon.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN BOYS BASKETBALL
The Dutchmen fast-paced, balanced offense wore out the Albany Huskies and led to a 91-52 win at Melrose.
The Dutchmen paced by Scottie Stone outside shooting, Austin Van Beck's inside game, and drives by Isaac Sawyer, Melrose led 49-28 by half-time. Stone, with five three point shots had 28 points in the game. Van Beck finished with 17 and Sawyer score 16.
Mitchel Niehaus had a number of key rebounds and added nine points to the Dutchmen's efforts.
Mitch Niehaus rebound, stole, assisted and scored nine points in the win over Albany.

The SC-M wrestlers had three pins and won three forfeits, but could not take the 40-39 match. MELROSE-SAUK CENTRE FUSION SWIMMING

The M-SC Fusion won 98-46 at Sauk Centre. More details will appear in the Jan. 18 issue of the Melrose Beacon.  The Fusion swept the 200MR, 200FS, 100IM, 50FS, diving, 100FS and 500FS races. It also took first in the 200FSR and the top two spots in the 100FLY . M-SC swam the remainder of the race has exhibition, but had the bests times in the 100BK, 100BT, and 400FSR.More details will appear in the Jan. 18 issue of the Melrose Beacon.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL

Melrose rallied for six points in the final minute of the game to defeat Sauk Centre 39-38 at Melrose.
The Lady Dutchmen trailed 38-33 from the 2:33 point in the game. Tayler Reller hit a three-point shot with 40 second left to cut the Mainstreeter lead to two points. After a over-and-back call gave the ball to Melrose, Annie Herkenhoff dropped in a three-point shot to put Melrose head.  A few seconds later Jenna Orth knocked the ball loose and Emily Goerdt grapped enabling Melrose to run out the clock.   Herkenhoff led Melrose with 16 points.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN GYMNASTICS
Maddy Brinkman helped Melrose
to a 146.25 score.

The Lady Dutchmen scored 146.25 to defeat New London Spicer at Melrose. It was their best score of the year to date.
Lydia Butkowski won the vault and beam routines.
Hailey Brinkman won the bars, floor and all-around routines.
Melrose finished with the top four scores in all events and all-around. It had the top five in the beam and floor.

The Dutchmen defeated Sauk Centre 70-56 at Sauk Centre. Scottie Stone, 28 points, Isaac Sawyer 15 points, led the Melrose scoring. More details on the game will be in the Jan. 18 issue of the Melrose Beacon.
PRAIRIE CENTRE NORTH STARS HOCKEY
Prairie Centre defeate M-A-M 3-1. Scoring goals from the North Stars were Nate Mettenberg, Robby Polipnick and Sam Ecker. Goalie Clay Deters had 27 saves.
MELROSE-SAUK CENTRE FUSION SWIMMING AND DIVING
The Fusion won 99-87. M-SC had individual first place finishes from Keenan Pearson, 100FLY (57.49), and Ethan Ross 5:38.88), 500FS. In the 500FS Jacob Gerhartz finished in second place.
The 200FSR team of Pearson, Phil Budde, Ross and Aasron Stalboerger claimed first 15 1:39.61. The 400FSR team of Tobie Danielson, Jared Von Wahlde, Stalboerger and Pearson finished first at 3:41.98.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN GYMNASTICS
The Lady Dutchmen placed first in every event and won the Watertown-Mayer Invitational with a 144.3 score. Watertown-Mayer finished second with a 133.8
Lydia Butkowski, who won the beam routine with a 9.4, was the all-around winner with a 36.6. Jailyn Brinkman captured first on the floor (9.5) and bars (9.05) and Hailey Brinkman was first on the vault (9.5)

SAUK CENTRE-MELROSE WRESTLING


SC-M finished 10th in 

the Barrel O’ Fun Invitational at Perham.

Roosevelt Austin’s third place finish was the top finish. The team had pins by Austin, Kolten Kuhlmann, and Tom Latzka.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Lady Dutchmen defeated Albany 54-50 at Albany.  Jenna Orth scored 21 points and Annie Herkenhoff added 13 for Melrose. It was the first time since 1995 that the Lady Dutchmen defeated Melrose that 73-53 win came in semi-final round of the sub-section playoffs.  Albany won 34 consecutive games in that stretch.


MELROSE DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
Scottie Stone scored 30 points
for Melrose.
Melrose turned a 52-35 half time lead into a 92-56 win in a WCC-North contest at Melrose.
Scottie Stone finished the game with 30 points. Austin Van Beck added another 21 and Isaac Sawyer had 12 points.

MELROSE-SAUK CENTRE FUSION SWIMMING AND DIVING
The M-SC Fusion posted a 103-83 win over Dassel-Cokato at Cokato. M-SC was led by freestyle swimmer Ethan Ross who won the 200 Freestyle (FS) and 500FS races.  M-SC is now 1-3 on the year. It's next meet is Saturday, Jan. 7 at the U of M.
PRAIRIE CENTRE AREA NORTH STARS HOCKEY
Prairie Centre's Cody Steward scored a third period goal preventing a shutout in a 4-1 loss to St. Cloud Apollo in St. Cloud.  The team next plays on Jan. 10 hosting Monticello at Sauk Centre. Prairie Centre is 6-6 on the year.
