Digs by Maddie Dufer (5), sets by Makiya Luetmer and hits by Courtney Gerads (4) resulted a bump-set-spike points for the Lady Dutchmen.It was a busy night for the Melrose Lady Dutchmen teams Tuesday, and they had their successes. The volleyball team took its match with Benson 3-0 and while the swimmer defeated Minnewaska/Morris. The Lady Dutchmen Cross-Country team was finished fourth at Sauk Centre, the same finish as that recorded by the boys team.  The soccer team found it rough going at Minnewaska and fell 7-0 in a road game.  More on the contests will appear in the Oct. 11 issue of the Melrose Beacon.


Trivia Answer
In 1895 William Morgan debuted a new game he called mintonette. It had elements of basketball, baseball, tennis, and handball. One person watching the game said the players were volleying and the game became know as fouling ball.?
