Antonio Ortiz (106 24-7) and Nathan Winter (132 ) will have wrestle well to medal at the state Class AA meet this weekend. Neither the 24-7 Ortiz or the 33-5 Winter are currently ranked among the top 10 in the Guillotine rankings.
Ortiz is the oldest member of his weight division at state.  He will begin his state meet facing unranked Kole Krause of Bloomington Kennedy. A ninth grader Krause has  a 26-12 record. Ranked wrestlers in the division include” #1 Matt Peterson-Byron (12, 35-0), #2-Jaxson Rohman-Fairmont/Martin County West (8, 36-1), #3-Nathan Garceau-Foley (11 21-1), #4-Nic Cantu-Albert Lea (10, 30-4), #5 Kyle Boeke, Princeton (8, 31-4), #8 Nick Johnson-Tri-City United (10, 31-5).   Unranked wrestlers in the weight class are: Hunter Baker-Luverne (8 28-10), Cobly Dunkel-New Prague (9 23-11), Bryce Golden-Bemidji (10 27-13), Cameron Wigand-South St. Paul (8 27-12), Cael Berg-Simely (8 28-11), Edwin Pesantez-Columbia Heights (11, 21-9), and Francis Fuenffinger-Hibbing (10 25-16).
