Despite the efforts of Isaac Sawyer (photograph) and others, Melrose finished its season as Section 6AA runners-up falling 73-59 to Litchfield. Melrose finished 29-2 on the year. Both loses were to Litchfield.

Melrose defeated Albany to win the 6AA-Sub-Section-North Championship. Melrose plays for the Section Championship Friday, March 15 at 8 p.m. at SCSU. Isaac Sawyer (5 in videos below) scored 21 points with seven assists. Scottie Stone (25 in videos) added 29 points
Melrose downed Osakia 67-27 in the opening round of the 6AA-North playoffs at Melrose. Scottie Stone scored 26 points and became the first Dutchmen to reach the 2000 career points (video). Cesar Cervantes (photo) scored three points for Melrose late in the game.
Melrose advances the 6AA-North semi-finals Saturday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at Collegeville. More information in the March 13 issue of the Beacon.
MELROSE SAUK CENTRE FUSION
Felipe Barreto (in photo and seen in the 200FS in the video) finished third in the 500FS race in the Class A swimming champions.
He also earned 10th in the 200FS.
Other finishes were:
13th 400FSR: John Schwieters, Ethan Ross, Brent Blommel, Felipe Barreto
14th-200FRS: Ethan Ross, Keenan Pearson, Matthew Beste, Brent Blommel.
17th-100 BK John Schwieters.

The Dutchmen closed out their regular season defeating Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 103-68 in the West Central Conference North-South playoff. Isaac Sawyer (photograph right), who scored his 1000 career point during the game, led Melrose with 27 points. Also scoring in double figures were Scottie Stone, 21, Mitch Reller 17, and Seth Noll, Ryan Elfering and Ty Reller. The latter three had 10 each. Ben Klaphake (video) put Melrose over the 100 point mark.
Melrose is now 26-1. It begins Section 6AA North Playoff Thursday, March 7 at Melrose.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
Melrose ended its season with an 8-17 record after falling 71-47 to Sauk Centre in the Section 6AA-North playoffs.
Emily Goerdt (photograph left) scored 16 points to lead Melrose.
