Lady Dutchmen Softball
Sandra Sprenger not only pitched 14 innings to earn two wins
this afternoon. She also had six hit in the two games as Melrose rallied to
defeat Sauk Centre 9-6 and then rallied to defeat Staples Motley 12-11 at
Melrose.
In the first game Sprenger’s 3-for-4 day resulted in her
scoring twice and driving in two runs. She doubled in Melrose’s first run and
later singled in t he tying run and scored the game-winning run.
In the second game she her third hit of the day, coming in
the seventh inning, started three-run game-winning rally.
Holly Hellermann singled to scored Sprenger and Justine
Revermann. Emily Tschida drove in Hellermann with the game winning run. Whitney Austing, the numer nine batter, had
three hits and three runs in the game. Sprenger struck out five to earn the
win.
Dutchmen Baseball
After a few nail biters, the Dutchmen had a blow out topping
Staples-Motley 13-0 in five innings. Adam Van Beck held the Cardinals to four
hits while striking out nine batters.
Mitch Waldvogel tripled for Melrose
