Dutchmen Baseball


The Melrose Dutchmen had home runs from Colton Meyer and Tyler Braegelmann, and a double from Adam Van Beck in their 11-7 win over Paynesville today.  Anthony Welle earned the win pitching 6.2 innings. 
The Dutchmen rallied for two in the fourth inning on Meyer’s two-run home run. In the fifth inning Tyler Braegelmann hit a three run home run at Melrose rallied for five runs.  Hunter Rademacher, who doubled and had two hits in the game, drove in two more runs.  Adam Van Back also doubled.
Welle left the game after the sixth, and returned win one out and two on.  The batter popped up and was ruled out on the infield fly.  The runner from first was tagged out at second when he tried to advance after the ball was missed.

Lady Dutchmen Softball
The Lady Dutchmen continued their heavy-hitting attack with 12 hits in a 12-6 win at Paynesville.
Justine Revermann’s 3-for-4 day led the Lady Dutchmen. She doubled and tripled. Abby Hinnenkamp homered. Emily Tschida also doubled for Melrose.

Melrose Baseball

Melrose split its double header with Montevideo falling 2-1 in the first game, but coming back with an 8-5 win the second game.
Anthony Welle double and scored for Melrose which tied the game at 1-1 in the sixth inning.   In he seventh Montevideo scored the winning run.

In the second game Melrose had 13 hits with both Hunter Rademacher and Colton Meyer getting three hits. Meyer, who took the loss in the first game, pitched the first six innings to get the win in the second. Zak Luetmer earned the save.
Melrose Golf


The Melrose girls finished seventh in the WCC contest at Morris.  In their second match of the day, the Lady Dutchmen finished in eighth place.
The boys team took seven place in their second contest of the day playing at Morris. Jacob Dickhaus finished tied for second place.
The Dutchmen finished fifth in the their first contest of the day at Morris. John Brang tied for 10th.

The Lady Dutchmen travel to Montevideo for a double header today.

The Dutchmen finished tied for first and the Lady Dutchmen took secnod at the Melrose Invtie this afternoon.

Lady Dutchmen Softball


          

Melrose posted a 10-0 five inning win over YME today. The team scored eight runs in the second inning. Kayla Austing, Sandra Sprenger, Kenzie Meyer and Whitney Austing all had two hits.  Meyer was the winning pitcher.
Dutchmen Golf
Melrose finished fifth in the WCC round played at Olivia today. All members of the team scored at 50 or below.  Nicholas Olberding led the team with a 42 as Melrose finshed with a 174 team score. The Dutchmen claimed fourth scoring a 170 in the match at Granite Falls. Jacob Dickhaus shot a 41 to lead Melrose.
Lady Dutchmen Golf
Melrose finished in seventh place in the WCC matches at Granite Falls and Olivia today. Brooklyn Loxtercamp scored a 44 to lead Melrose at Olivia. Her 49 led Melrose at Granite Falls.
Dutchmen Baseball
Melrose defeated Yellow Medicine East 4-2 at Granite Falls. Colton Meyer and Anthony Welle both had two hits. Karter Klassen was the winning pitcher.

The Lady Dutchmen had homeruns from Sandra Sprenger, Justine Revermann, Abby Hinnenkamp and Avri Bitz in their 8-5 win over Sauk Centre this afternoon.

Dutchmen Golf
The Dutchmen golf team finished 10th at an invitational at Blackberry Golf Course in Sartell. The Dutchmen shot 388 at a team. Competing for the Dutchmen were: Matthew Kluempke-95, John Brang-96, Jacob Dickhaus-97, Zach Austing-100, Nicholas Olberding-101, and Tyler Hoffman-106 in the 18 hole contest.

All Melrose spring sports were active this week. Read of their action and results in the April 22 issue of the Melrose Beacon.
The Melrose Dutchmen baseball team finished 1-2 on the week. The Lady Dutchmen softball team played in four tough games.
The track teams had their first outings of the year.
The golf teams were both involved in West Central Conference doubleheader.
