TERRIFIC TUESDAY
The Melrose Lady Dutchmen team brought victories and the resurrected cross-country program had an impressive outing today.
The volleyball, swimming and tennis team all brought home victories.
Volleyball

The Lady Dutchmen defeated Sauk Centre 3-1 to remain unbeaten on the year. Game scores were 19-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-16.  The team needed to rally after losing the first game. It did, but again found itself trailing the third game. It regrouped from a 17-13 deficit, tied the scored, too that game and dominated the fourth to stay unbeaten.
Melrose Justine Revermann and Emily Goerdt both had double digit kills and Taryn Van Heel and Lydia Butkowski kept finding ways to keep the ball in the air as Melrose won played a well-balance match to stay unbeaten.
Swimming

The Lady Dutchmen topped Albany 106-72 in swimming this evening. Melrose swam the final three events as exhibition races.  The Lady Dutchmen took the top three spots in 200FS. 50FS, diving (video) and 100FS. It captured the top two spots in the 200MR and 200IM, and it won the 200FSR and 500FS. The team also had the top three times in the 100BK, and top two times in the 400FSR.
The Lady Dutchmen mixed up their line-up a bit but still managed good times and finishes in each event. Gabi Sawyer (left) swam with the first place medley relay team and also won the 100FS.  Taylor Poepping (right) led Melrose to a sweep of the 200FS.
Tennis
Melrose returned from Montevideo with a 6-1 win.  Melrose is now 8-2 on the year. Katie Schulzetenberg posted a win of 6-0 6-0 at number three singles. Sam Poepping and Harley Walked won a tough three set match with scores of 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (4-7) and 6-2.
Cross Country

Melrose Boys Cross Country Team took fifth out of 15 at Wadena today. The girls field an incomplete team.  Brian Thielen (pictured right) led the Dutchmen taking 19th out of 71 runners in the race.
