Melrose Baseball
Brady Birch allowed only two hits in the playoff win over Staples-Motley.
The Dutchmen opened their playoffs with an 11-0 win over Staples-Motley. Brady Birch earned the win. Tyler Moscho
tripled twice in the game and drove in four runs.
Melrose Track and Field
Seven members of the Melrose Track and Field team qualified for the Section 6A track meet after competition was held in the 6A-1 meet Thursday. Competing for Melrose will be:
Camryn Brinkman-200, Long Jump, Triple Jump.
Katherine Maus-3200.
Cally Roering-100 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles.
Mady Brinkman-Triple Jump.
Ashley Revering-Triple Jump.
Jesse Middendorf -800, 1600
Austin Kalthoff-110 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles, High Jump.
Melrose Golf
The Dutchmen competed in a 20-team tournament Thursday at Brainerd. The team finished in 15th place in the 18-hole contest.

Post Season

The spring sports post season is underway. The Lady Dutchmen softball team, playing at its best the last few weeks, finished their season at 9-11. The team’s season ended in a 1-0 loss to Pierz the playoffs Friday afternoon. Melrose was limited to one hit, but had some solid defensive plays during the game. The Lady Dutchmen played well all-around in its double-header win over ACGC on Monday posting wins of 10-4 and 18-7. Kenzie Meyer and Sandra Sprenger had good outings from the mound. Abby Hinnenkamp, Avri Bitz, Makayla Leraas and Kayla Austing provided some hard-hitting offensive support. Hard hits were also part Melrose’s double-header loss to Sauk Centre on Tuesday. Melrose had six home runs in the two games with Hinnenkamp hitting three of them. Bitz had two and Leeras added another.  The Dutchmen and Lady Dutchmen track and field teams had five people earn all-conference honors Tuesday  the West Central Conference meet. Earning all-conference honors were Cally Roering-100 hurdles, Camryn Brinkman-triple jump and Jesse Middendorf-1600. Honorable mention honors were earned by Roering-100 hurdles, Austin Kalthoff-110 hurdles and 300 hurdles, and Brent Reller 3200.The Dutchmen and Lady Dutchmen golf teams had team members earn all-conference honors after the final rounds of the West Central Conference golf season Thursday. Brooklyn Loxtercamp earned a place on the all-conference girls team. Named to the all-conference boys team were Nate Loxtercamp, Jon Brang and Jacob Dickhaus.The Dutchmen baseball team will begin post-season play this coming week. A win over Sauk Centre would clinch the WCC title for Melrose.  The team had three strong games this past week topping Morris 3-1 on Monday and 6-2 on Thursday. On Tuesday it defeated BOLD 5-1. In all three-games the team has good pitching (Tyler Braegelmann, Colton Meyer and Adam Van Beck all had complete game) and played errorless defense. The team also had various people come through offensively. In Monday’s game Tyler Moscho started rallies and finished with two hits. Tuesday Colton Meyer had two home runs and on Thursday Mitchell Waldvogel circled the bases on two errors to give Melrose a 3-0 lead.  Winning pitcher Adam Van Beck singled twice to drive in two runs.

Dutchmen Baseball
The Melrose Dutchmen rushed to mob Tyler Moscho (in helmet) after his seventh inning single game them the win over Foley on Friday afternoon.
The Dutchmen won their third straight game against a good team with a 3-2 win over Foley.
Trailing 2-0 in the seventh and with one out, Melrose grew patient at the plate. Adam Van Beck, the eventual winning pitcher, singled. Anthony Revermann drew a walk and Jordan Klaphake reached on a fielder’s choice. With two out Levi Feldewerd walked loading the bases and bringing up Kegan Stueve.  While Stueve batted there was wild pitched that allowed Revermann to score. Stueve also drew a walk bring up Tyler Moscho. Moscho singled to right to give Melrose the win.

Jesse Middendorf claimed first place in the 1600 run at the Little Crow Invited in New London on Thursday.
Camryn Brinkman finished first in the girls’ triple jump.

Lady Dutchmen Softball
Avri Bitz scored two runs for the Lady Dutchmen in the 4-2 win this afternoon.
Melrose made key outs and had some timely hits in its 4-1 win over Benson/Hancock this afternoon at Melrose.  Winning pitcher Sandra Sprenger had two hits in the game Makayla Leraas drove in two runs and Avri Bitz scored twice.
Dutchmen Baseball
The Dutchmen baseball team topped Cathedral 5-4 tonight in St. Cloud.  Melrose (9-1) had had back-to-back doubles by Colton Meyer and Adam Van Beck in the fifth inning to drive in the eventual game winning runs.

Dutchmen Baseball

The Melrose Dutchmen baseball team played well in all aspect the game in their 5-1 win of Sauk Centre yesterday. Winning pitcher Tyler Braegelmann struck out 10 in the complete game victory and had two hits. Anothony Revermann also had two hits for the Dutchmen and Jordon Klaphake a two-run double.
Dutchmen Golf
Melrose finished second in both WCC matches played yesterday at Melrose and Sauk Centre. In both matches Minnewaska took first. Melrose was five strokes behind the leaders at Melrose. Nate Loxtercamp finished third at Melrose, one stroke behind the co-medalists.
Lady Dutchmen Golf
The Lady Dutchmen finished in seventh place in both matches yesterday in the WCC. In both matches the missed sixth by one stroke. Brooklyn Loxtercamp shot led the Melrose scoring in both matches.
Lady Dutchmen Softball
The Lady Dutchmen split a double header Monday at Minnewaska. In the 11-9 win in the first game Sandra Sprenger had three hits. In the 16-11 loss in the second game, she and Kayla Austing both had two hits.
