SAUK CENTRE-MELROSE WRESTLING

The Sauk Centre-Melrose wresltling season ended whenWill Funk and Arturo Stefanoni both fell in the state wrestlebacks.

Funk finished 1-2 and Stefanoni 0-2.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL:

The Lady  Dutchmen closed out their regular season with a 59-54 wino over Southwest Christian.,

The begins post season play Thursday at Holdingford. More information will be in the March 5 issue of the Melrose Beacon.

MELROSE-SAUK CENTRE FUSION SWIMMING:

Justine Hoppe qualified for the consolation heat of the state tournament this afternoon.

Also reaching the consolation head were the 200FSR and 400FRS teams. They are composed of 

Matt Beste, Justin Hoppe, Ben Heller, Brent Blommel.

Others swimming in the state preliminaries were:

John Schwieters: 200IM and 200BK

Ben Heller and Justine Hoppe in the 500FS. 

Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014-Boys Basketball

MELROSE DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL:

A strong second half enabled Melrose to rally from a nine point deficit and defeat Holdingford 59-42 in the first round of the 6AA-North playoffs.  Melrose next plays Saturday at St. Johns.  Check the March 5 issue of the Beacon for more information.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL: The Lady Dutchmen fell 63-42 to 21-1 Albany this evening.  Melrose trailed Albany 29-21 at half, but could not contain the Huskies in the second half.
Melrose concludes its regular season Friday night.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL: The Lady Dutchmen fll 49-46 to Brandon-Evansville tonight.

Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014-Wrestling and Swimming

MELROSE-SAUK CENTRE FUSION SWIMMING:
M-SC swim and dive team will have three individuals and twp relays competing at state.
be competing at the state meet.  Qualify for the state meet are:
Justine Hoppe, 200FS and 500FS
John Schwieters 200IM
Ben Heller  500FS.
Relay teams that qualified are:
200FSR: Hoppe, Heller, Matthew Beste and Brent Blommel.
400FSR Hoppe, Heller, Beste, Blommel.
The state meet will be held next weekend at the University of Minnesota.


SAUK CENTRE-MELROSE WRESTLING
195 pound wrestler Arturo Stefanoni and 132 pound wrestler Will Funk qualified for the state Class 2AA wrestling tournament.
Funk is the 132 champion of Section 8AA.  Stefonani is the runner-up at 195 pounds
The state wrestling tournament is this weekend.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN GYMNASTIC

Five gymansts competed in the Class A Individual meet this afternoon.

Earning state medals were Jailyn Brinkman, Mady Brinkman and Lydia Butkowski.

Individual competitors at the state meet were Kayla Austing, Jailyn Brinkman, Lydia Butkowski, Abby Hinnenkamp and Mady Brinkman.
