Sauk Centre- Melrose Wrestling: The SC-M wrestlers earned sixth place with five wrestlers earning medals at the SC-Melrose Earlybird Tournament.   Earning medals were:  Antonio Ortiz, 106, second (top photograph); Jordan Winter, 113, third; Will Funk, 132, second (bottom photograph);  Dalton Reinke, 152, third (video below); and Jimmy Thomas, 220, fourth.

Tuesday, Nov. 26

Melrose Dutchmen Basketball: Even with a strong second half, the Melrose Dutchmen fell 63-56 to LPGE in their first game of the year. Seth Noll (in photograph and top video) led Melrose with 19 points. His three-point shooting at the end of the half help Melrose get back into the game. Melrose trailed 31-28 at half. Noll had dropped in the final six Melrose points on three point shots. No other Dutchmen had more than eight points in the game. Blake Gerads (second video), who played strong game underneath and Tyler Braegelmann both scored eight point.

Melrose was within three points with 40 seconds left in the game. It was forced to foul allowing LPGE to built on its lead.

Prairie Centre North Stars: The North Stars fell 3-2 in overtime to River Lakes.

Prairie Centre Hockey:
The Prairie Centre North Stars (0-1) fell 4-0 to St. Cloud Apollo in St. Cloud.  The Dutchmen will a number new faces this year as they graduated nine seniors.

LADY DUTCHMEN SWIMMING STATE FINISHES

Left photo Syndey Rasmussen (lef) finished eighth in the 100 breaststroke. 

Johanne Kolbak finished fifth in the 100 BT. Gabi Sawyer (right  and in video below) finished third in the 100 Butterfly race at the state meet.  Consolations finishers 200 Medley Relay: Gabi Sawyer, Sydney Rasmussen, Johanne Kolbak, Mikayla Von Wahlde.-12th 200 Freestyle: Rachael Kulzer-15th. 200 Individual Medley: Johanne Kolbak-finished 15th at state. 400FSR: Gabi Sawyer, Johanne Kolbak, Rachael Kulzer and Taylor Poepping finished 14th in state.-13th

Melrose finished 13th out of 50 plus teams that sent some one to the state meet.

LADY DUTCHMEN SWIMMING: The following will compete in the Class A State Preliminaries swimming meet. Those finishing in the top 1-8 compete in the championship finals on Wednesday. Those finishing 9 to 16 compete in the consolation round.
