MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN VOLLEYBALL
Despite the play of Briana Schmiesing (11 in photograph) Sauk Centre defeated Melrose in three games at Rocori. Melrose finishes its season with a 16-10 record.  More information will appear in the Nov.7 issue of the Melrose Beacon.   In the video below Melrose scores a point after a long volley.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN SWIMMING

Melrose earned 728 points and won the West Central Conference Swimming and Diving championship at Morris.

The team had an all-conference finisher (first or second) in every event.  It top moment was in the 500FS(right photograph,from left) where Stefanie Rasmussen,K Kennedy Eichers and Rachael Kulzer finished third, second, first claim all conference a honorable mention medals in that race.  Third place earned honorable mention.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN VOLLEYBALL

Led by  hits from Briana Schmiesing (left) and Emily Goerdt (right) the Melrose Lady Dutchmen Volleyball team posted a 3-0 win over Pierz in the quarterfinals of the Seciton 6AA playoffs.  The scores were 25-20, 26-24, 25-22. 
Melrose will face Sauk Centre Tuesday night at Rocori in the semi-final round of playoffs.
Melrose also played a scrappy go-to-floor that resulted in some good plays (video below).

MELROSE DUTCHMEN FOOTBALL


Seth Noll (left) ran for over 60 yards and Isaac Sawyer threw for over 100 yards  and but Melrose fell 24-6 to Albany in the first round of playoffs at Albany. The Dutchmen end their season with a 5-4 record.

Monday, Oct. 22

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN VOLLEYBALL
Led by a strong all-around game from Briana Schmiesing the Lady Dutchmen defeated Paynesville 3-0 at Melrose. Scores were 25-9, 25-13, 26-24. Schmiesing had eight kills and nine ace serves.  Melrose begins playoffs Thursday, Oct. 25 hosting Pierz. Melrose finished its regular season with a 15-9 record.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN SWIMMING

The diving of Morgan Kingston and freestyle swimming of Rachael Kulzer helped the Lady Dutchmen to an eighth place finish in the Class A true team meet at the U of M Aquatic Centre.
Kingston finished third in diving and Kulzer fifth inthe 500FS race.

Amanada Warzecha (seen in the video finishing fifth in the 50FS) claimed fourth place in the 100FS race.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN FOOTBALL

The Melrose Dutchmen played a strong  offensive and defensive game in its 39-6 win over Red Rock Central. The Dutchmen finished their regular season with a 5-3 record. Zach Pierskalla (24 in video) was one of the Melrose running backs who carried the ball in the game.
Melrose's defense had on one interception and was able to stop the Red Rock Central running game with good defense (right photo)
The Dutchmen used the two-pronged running attack of Trevor Sawyer (bottom left) and Seth Noll (bottom right)  to gain yards, control the ball and score touchdowns.
