CONFERENCE
The Melrose athletic teams have been placed back into the West Central Conference (WCC).
The committee of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) recommended placing Melrose back into the WCC in late October.  The WCC appealed the decision and on Nov. 9 the appeal went before a independent hearing officer.
On Nov. 21 the officer, after reviewing the appeal, recommended the MSHSL accept the committee's recommendation and place Melrose in the WCC.
Melrose begins its winter sports competition this Friday with the girls basketball team traveling to St. Cloud Cathedral, and the wrestling team hosting an invitational. The gymnastics team is at an invitational at Becker on Saturday.
