Dutchmen Baseball
The Dutchmen fell 3-0 to unbeaten St. Cloud Cathedral tonight in St. Cloud. Melrose next faces Foley Monday in St. Cloud in the elmination bracket of the 6AA playoffs. Colton Meyer allowed six hit in the game and pitched six innings.  Hunter Rademacher, Adam Van Beck and Josh Wolbeck had the Dutchmen hits.

Melrose Track and Field
Senior triple jumper Lydia Butkowski is the Section 5A champion in the girls triple jump. She also finished fifth in the long jump. Also earnng medals at the section meet this afternoon were hurdler Cally Roering and 1600 runner Jesse Middendorf.

Dutchmen Golf
The Dutchmen finished in an 18-hole invite at Brainerd. Jacob Dickhaus led the Dutchmen scoring.


Dutchmen Baseball

 

Melrose rallied for one in the fifth and two in the sixth to defeat Rocori 3-2 in in the Section 6AA baseball playoffs. Hunter Rademacher's two-out RBI single drove in the game winners. Melrose faces Cathedral tomorrow night.

The Lady Dutchmen concluded their regular season finishing four at an invitational in Melrose this afternoon. Brooklyn Loxtercamp finished sixth in the individual standings.
Dutchmen Baseball

Melrose opened the 6AA playoffs with a 7-1 over Osakis. The team play Rocori to night in St. Cloud.
Tyler Braegelmann tripled twice in the game. Adam Van Beck allowed only three hits.

Dutchmen Baseball
The Dutchmen ended their regular season win a 10-0 five-inning loss to Sauk Centre this afternoon.  Brady Birch struck out three in is first varsity appearance. The Dutchmen finish the regular season with a 13-6 record. They are the number two seed in the Section 6AA playoff that begin Tuesday. They face Osakis at Freeport at 7 p.m.

Albany defeated Melrose 12-2 in five innings this evening in St. Martin. Anthony Welle doubled and he and Hunter Rademacher scored for the Dutchmen.

Extra Inning Win
Melrose rallied to defeated Benson 12-8 in eight innings this afternoon at Benson. Tyler  Braegelmann hit a home run in the eight inning. Anthony Welle opened the game with a home run.

Golf Teams
The Dutchmen had two players, Jacob Dickhaus and John Brang named to the all conference golf team following the final round of the WCC season.  Lady Dutchmen Brooklyn Loxtercamp was named to the girls all-conference team.
Diamond games

 It was a rough day on the diamond fields for the Dutchmen and Lady Dutchmen.

Despite a three-run home run by Tyler Braegelmann Melrose fell 11-4 to BOLD.
In the first round of the Section 6A playoffs the Lady Dutchmen fell 9-1 to Sauk Centre ending their season. Makayla Leraas had an RBI single in the game.

The Melrose-Osakis Softball game for this afternoon has been cancelled.
Melrose softball is seeded fourth and will host Sauk Centre Monday at 4;30 in Melrose.

The West Central Conference meet set for today has been cancelled.

The Dutchmen and Lady Dutchmen golf matches scheduled for today have been postponed until May 19.

Lady Dutchmen Softball

Sandra Sprenger not only pitched 14 innings to earn two wins this afternoon. She also had six hit in the two games as Melrose rallied to defeat Sauk Centre 9-6 and then rallied to defeat Staples Motley 12-11 at Melrose.

In the first game Sprenger’s 3-for-4 day resulted in her scoring twice and driving in two runs. She doubled in Melrose’s first run and later singled in t he tying run and scored the game-winning run.
In the second game she her third hit of the day, coming in the seventh inning, started three-run game-winning rally.

Holly Hellermann singled to scored Sprenger and Justine Revermann. Emily Tschida drove in Hellermann with the game winning run.  Whitney Austing, the numer nine batter, had three hits and three runs in the game. Sprenger struck out five to earn the win.
Dutchmen Baseball

After a few nail biters, the Dutchmen had a blow out topping Staples-Motley 13-0 in five innings. Adam Van Beck held the Cardinals to four hits while striking out nine batters.  Mitch Waldvogel tripled for Melrose

Melrose Dutchmen Baseball


The Dutchmen scored on an Anthony Welle home run in the first inning and on a wild pitch in the fifth to defeat Sauk Centre 2-1 this afternoon at Melrose.
Welle's lead off home run was the only hit Melrose had in the game.  They scored the winning pitch after three walks were issued and a wild pitch thrown in the fifth inning. Melrose has won nine straight games with this win.

The game with Albany was rained out. It was not a complete game and will not be made up. Albany was leading 7-5 in the third inning when the game was called.

Melrose Dutchmen Baseball
The Dutchmen baseball team scored in the bottom of the 10th inning to defeat ACGC 5-4 this afternoon at Melrose. Hunter Rademacher had the game winning hit in the 10th inning.

Lydia Butkowski's first place finish in the triple jump helped Melrose to a seventh place finish in the 16-team Dave Sieben Invite.
Rodrigo Milla's second place finish in the 200 was the best on the day for the Dutchmen track team. Melrose finished 11th as a team.

Melrose Dutchmen Baseball
The Dutchmen swept a double-header today topping Minnewaska 5-2 and 5-4.
In the first game home runs by Tyler Braegelmann and Colton Meyer broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning and provided the winning margin.
In the second game Adam Austing doubled in the bottom of the 10th inning to drive in the game winning run. Anthony Welle, who drove in two runs in the game, was the winning pitcher.
Melrose Lady Dutchmen Softball
Melrose rallies fell short in the double header loss to Minnewaska this afternoon.  In the first 6-3 loss in the first game Melrose had eight hits, but allowed five unearned runs.  Justine Revermann tripled and Sandra Sprenger doubled in the game. In the second game, a 15-9 loss, Melrose had 14 hits.  Abby Hinnenkamp finished the game going 3-3. She, Holly Hellermann and Whitney Austing doubled.  Melrose rallied for seven runs to tie the game in the fifth inning, but was outscored 8-2 in the next two innings.

Melrose Dutchmen Golf
The Dutchmen finished sixth at Paynesville today and second at Atwater in the second part of the WCC double header. Nick Olberding finished tied for second in the Atwater round.
Melrose Lady Dutchmen Golf
Melrose rebounded from an ninth place finish at Atwater to take eighth at Paynesville in a WCC double header. Brooklyn Loxtercamp led the Melrose team in both contests.
Melrose Lady Dutchmen Softball
Melrose had 12 hits in its 11-2 win over LPGE this afternoon at Long Prairie. Sandra Sprenger, the winning pitcher, had three hits. So too did Holly Hellermann. Sprenger and Revermann tripled in the game. Hellermann doubled.

Dutchmen Baseball

The Dutchmen both games they played in their tournament today at Freeport. Melrose used 14 hits and benefited from five Upsala-Swanville Area errors in the 7-2 win in the first game.  All four Melrose runs in the fourth were unearned. Anthony Welle had three hits for Melrose and scored twice. Tyler Braegelmann reached on two hits and Alex Hinnenkamp doubled. Adam Van Beck, who had two hits with two RBI was the winning pitcher allowing two hits in five innings, but striking out four. Adam Austing closed the game for Melrose.
Patriot pitcher Tyler Evans struck out eight in four innings.
The Dutchmen finished the tournament defeating Littlefork-Big Falls 9-2 later int the afternoon in the third game. Melrose jumped to a 7-0 first inning lead.  Mitch Waldvogel had four hits for Melrose. The team had triples from Hunter Rademacher, Ben Heller and Bailey Van Beck.  Zak Luetmer pitched the complete game victory.
In the other game of that day USA defeated Littlefork-Big Falls.

Lady Dutchmen Softball


The Lady Dutchmen rallied from a 3-0 first inning defict to take a 14-4 five inning win over Wadena-Deer Creek this afternoon.  Melrose had 16 hits in the game with Sandra Sprenger belting out three hits and Justine Revermann, Holly Hellermann and Sprenger hitting doubles Sprenger had two doubles in the game. 
Melrose's defense backed up the pitching of Kenzie Meyer, who was the winning pitcher. In the third inning it turned an infield to second double play. In the fourth it turned a short to second double play and in the fifth inning it executed a perfect centerfield-shortstop-catcher relay to put out a runner at the place.
