ARTS NIGHT
Weather/wet grounds has caused cancellations or postponements. That means those planning to attend the contests can now check out the artworks done by some of the athletes at other students at Melrose Area Public School. The programs begin is being held in the high school gymnasium and the auditorium.

DUTCHMAN BASEBALL:
The Melrose Dutchmen baseball team fell 7-2 to Minnewaska this afternoon at Melrose. Minnewaska had four-run first inning and a three-run fourth inning to take the win.
Colton Meyer was charged with the loss. Anthony Welle pitched three innings of scoreless relief in the game.  Grant Rieland, who had two of Melrose's hits, also scored both runs for the team. Also getting hits were Meyer and Alex Hinnenkamp.

Friday, April 25-Softball


MELROSE SOFTBALL:
The Lady Dutchmen moved to 3-2 with a 6-5 win over a solid Minnewaska team at Melrose.
Sandra Sprenger doubled and tripled (see video below) to drive in two runs.
Emily Revermann started and worked into the sixth inning before turning the game over to reliever Morgan Notch. Notch faced just five batters in the final inning and one-third to pick up the save.
Melrose rallied in the first and in the third innings to take the lead in the game.  Nikki Zierden scored the game winning run. In the fifth. She singled, stole second and when to third on an over throw. She then scored when Justine Revermann grounded out.  More information appears in the April 30 issue of the Melrose Beacon.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN GOLF:
Melrose finished seventh with a 174 today at the Olivia Golf Course. The team also finished seventh in the YME contest.
The girls also competed at BOLD and YME and finished in ninth place.

Tuesday, April 22, 2014-Softball


LADY DUTCHMEN SOFTBALL:
The Lady Dutchmen fell 12-5 to Morris this afternoon at Melrose. Melrose rallied twice in the game to takes leads of 2-1 and 4-2. It also lead 5-4 going into the seventh inning. Madison Rausch led Melrose with two hits in the game and Emily Tschida had an RBI double (see video below).
Sandra Sprenger started pitching for Melrose and backed by a good defense was was able to pitch out of a few jams. Shortstop Justine Revermann finished the day with one putout and five assists.  The game was the first for Melrose on its new field. Madison Rausch had the first hit for Melrose on that field. 
Morgan Notch was charged with the loss in the game

Tuesday, April 22, 2014-Track

MELROSE TRACK AND FIELD


Both the Dutchmen and Lady Dutchmen finished in fifth place at the Albany Invitational.

The boys finished with first place finishes from the 4X800 relay team, and Caleb Rothfork in the high jump.
The girls top finishes were by Cally Roering in the 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles, 
and Lydia Butkowski in the triple jump.
