MELROSE DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
The Dutchmen topped a strong, and bit taller, Sartell-St. Stephen team 84-62 at Melrose. Ty Reller (pictured) and eight points and 12 rebounds in the game.
Melrose next plays Thursday, Feb. 28 hosting Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City in a face off between the WCC-North and South Champions.

MELROSE-SAUK CENTRE FUSION SWIMMING


The Fusion Swim team qualified Keenan Pearson,100FLY, Ethan Ross 100FS, Felipe Barreto 200FS and 500FS ; and John Schwieters 200IM, 100BK as individuals. The 200FSRof . Brent Blommel Pearson, Ross and Barreto;  and in the 400FSR team  of Blommel Ross, Barreto and Schwieters also qualified for state.

SAUK CENTRE-MELROSE WRESTLING

Will Funk (in photos left) finished third in the Section 6AA wrestling tournament. No SC-M wrestler advanced to state.

The Lady Dutchmen finished second in the Class A gymanstics meet.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL

The Dutchmen defeated Lac qui Parle Valley 98-39 at Melrose.
Good defense by Ryan Elfering and the rest of the Dutchmen helped to keep LQPV in check, Scottie Stone (in video) had 38 points in the game.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
Emily Goerdt (in video) scored with 16 seconds left to give Melrose a 53-51 win over Morris at Melrose.  Melrose had trailed by nine with 5:10 left.  Tayler Reller, who threw the pass to Goerdt for the winning basket, had 15 points in the game. Goerdt finished with 14. Melrose closed it regular season with a four game win streak.  It faces Sauk Centre next Thursday in the first round of playoffs.

MELROSE BOYS BASKETBALL
The Dutchmen downed Sauk Centre 81-67 to clinch the West Central Conference North Title.
Scottie Stone (right photograph) had 31 points. Isaac Sawyer had 21 points.
Mitch Niehaus (scoring in video) had seven points in the game.







MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
Melrose won its third game in a row defeating Brandon-Evansville 51-42. Emily Goerdt had 16 points and Gabi Sawyer had 14 points.

The Dutchmen had 33 points from Scottie Stone and 31 from Isaac Sawyer in a 95-61 win over Minnewaska at Melrose. Ryan Elfering (In photo right) had eight first half points.
Melrose, now 22-1, is ranked first in Class AA.

The Sauk Centre-Melrose wrestling tea fell Princeton in the Section 6AA team tournament. The wrestlers will compete in the Section6AA meet next week.

The North Stars topped Wadena-Deer Creek 5-2. Cody Steward, Zack Pierskall and Adam Froseth scored for Prairie Centre. Clay Deters had 39 saves.

M-SC FUSION SWIMMING AND DIVING
The Fusion defeated Montevideo and Morris Area in a triangular meet at Sauk Centre this evening. Scores were M-SC 256, Montevideo 218 and Morris 38.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
Melrose scored on a last second shot by Emily Goerdt to top Holdingford 44-42 at Melrose. Goerdt had 19 points in the game and 13 Rebounds. Krista Klassen (right photo) had seven rebounds in the game.   Emily Goerd's shot just (seen in video above) just beat the buzzer).  Tayler Reller  had 11 points and tied the game a 40-40 for Melrose.  Holdingford's Joelle Ertle crossed the 1,000 point mark of her career at about the 10 minute mark of the second half.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN GYMNASTICS
Led by Jailyn Brinkman, first on bars and beam, and Lydia Butkowski, first on vault, the Lady Dutchmen topped Alexandria 147.6-139.825.   Melrose placed four in the top five of the all-around with Brinkman, Butkowski, Kayla Austing and Mady Brinkman finishing 1-2-4-5.

MELROSE  DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
Melrose moved to 18-1 on the year and 10-0 in the WCC-North with a 77-50 win over Montevideo. Scottie Stone scored 40 points  for the Dutchmen. Isaac Sawyer's 15 points and Mitch Niehaus' 11 points gave Melrose three players in double figures.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN BASKETBALL
Melrose hung on to defeat Montevideo 61-52 at Melrose Gabi Sawyer had 17 for Melrose.  Emily Goerdt (seen in video) scored 11 for Melrose.

Melrose downed Yellow Medicine East 96-53 after taking a 64-21 half time lead. Scottie Stone had 28 points,all in thefirst. Seth Noll, (in video below) 11, Isaac Sawyer,15, and Ryan Elfering,11 all reached double figures. Mitchel Niehaus (in photo right) saved the ball from going out of bounds.

Sauk Centre-Melrose fell 39-28 to Quad City. Tommy Latzka and Ellering (in video) had pins. Antonio Ortiz won by decision.Will Funk had major decisio. Luke Glasener (top right photo) came close but fell in decision.

PRAIRE CENTER NORTH STARS HOCKEY
Willmar beat Prairie Centre 6-4. Zack Pierskalla 2g, Preston Pung, g a, and Trent Berscheit g.Scored for the North Stars. Clay Deters had 30 saves.
