MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN TENNIS
The Lady Dutchmen had four singles champions and one doubles champion in the West Central Conference individual tennis championship at Glenwood. Earning championships were (above from left) singles players Grace Brang, Jailyn Brinkman, and Kenedy Meyer and (right) Elisha Engelmeyer and Shelia Poepping.   Video Grace Brang scores a point in the number two championship match.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN FOOTBALL

The Melrose Dutchmen fell 40-14 in their homecoming game.
Seth Noll (left) gained 57 yards on the ground for Melrose.  Trevor Sawyer (video) scored on touchdown and helped set up another.

Thursday, Sept. 27

MELROSE  LADY DUTCHMEN  VOLLEYBALL

Brenna Pierskalla (right 12) and Briana Schmiesing (11 in video above) and other members  of the Lady Dutchmen drove the ball past Mainstreeter defenders such as Elizabeth Ellens in a match played at Melrose. Sauk Centre won the contest in 3-2. The Mainstreeters have lost only three games this  season. All three have been to Melrose.

The Melrose Lady Dutchmen Tennis team successfully defended their team tennis crown with wins over Yellow Medicine East and Montevideo Monday, Sept. 24 at Montevideo.

MELROSE HOMECOMING EVENTS
Good saves by the student goalie Lucero Montanez (left) enable the students to top the faculty 2-1 in a faculty student soccer game this afternoon.  Tony Vasquez scored both student goals. Todd Prout scored the goal for the faculty.






HOMECOMING POWDER PUFF GAME
Runs by Morgan Kingston (right photograph) helped the senior girls beat the juniors in the powder puff homecoming game. The game was one of the homecoming activities.

2012 MELROSE HOMECOMING

Mitchel Niehaus was selected King and Rachel  Klaphake was named  Queen of the 2012 Melrose Area Hight School Homecoming at coronation ceremony this morning. Other members of the Royal Court are:
Senior Attendants: Kendra Braun, Cortiney Kerfeld, Katelyn Wehlage,Ashley Winter,Jonah Duclos, Saul Ellering, Tyler Leukam and John Miller. Freshman attendants Cory Ahrens and Maria Maleska. Sophomore attendants Isaac Herkenhoff and Aliysn Hoeschen. Junior attendants Austin Douvier and Kate Maus. Junior royalty  Lauren Hinnenkamp and Connor Revermann.
Other activities at the school include: 
Tuesday, Sept. 25: Soccer 4:30 p.m.  Volleyball 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 26 staff-student soccer game 3:15 p.m. Senior girls vs junior girl football game 7 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 27: Volleyball game.
Friday, Sept. 28: Pepfest 12:15 p.m. Parade starting at 2 p.m. Tailgate party 4 p.m. Football game 7 p.m.

LADY DUTCHMEN VOLLEYBALL

Briana Schmiesing (video) had 16 kills as Melrose defeated Holdingford 3-1 at Melrose. Melrose won the contest 19-25 25-23 25-17 and 25-7.
Brynn Van Heel (right) came through with solid hits and good  all around play for Melrose in the contest.

MELROSE BOYS SOCCER
Melrose tied Minnewaska 0-0 at Melrose. Melrose is 4-0-1 on the year. The team won 8-1 Friday at Melrose.

LADY DUTCHMEN TENNIS
Melrose posted a 5-2 over New London-Spicer in a non-conference contest at New London.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN FOOTBALL


Good play by  the Melrose line (see video above) and and good running by Seth Noll (top photograph) and Trevor (bottom photograph), helped Melrose defeat Martin County West 39-14 at Sherburn. 

Noll scored three touchdowns and Sawyer  added a touchdown  and three PAT.

ONE TERRIFIC TUESDAY
Melrose teams all posted wins at home this afternoon and evening.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN TENNIS


Michaela Worms (seen in video above) fell in her number one singles match, but the Lady Dutchmen prevailed 5-2 over Minnewaska  at Melrose.  Shelia Poepping(right) , playing in number three doubles, did good job returning the ball to help Melrose win that match.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN SWIMMING


Sydney Rasmussen (left) had a first place performances as Melrose defeated Albany in swimming at Melrose. The Lady Dutchmen have won 4-1 in dual meets and taken two first places at invitationals this year.
Gabi Sawyer set the Melrose pool record in the butterfly. Rachael Tiede of Albany set her school record in the 500FS.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN VOLLEYBALL




Kills by Brenna Pierskalla  (seen in video above ) and sets by Brynn Van Heel (left) helped the Lady Dutchmen to a three set win over Morris-Chokio/Alberta at Melrose.  
Pierskalla had 10 kills in the  match Melrose was led by Brianna Schmiesing with 19 kills. Shelby Uphoff had 15 kills.  Van Heel and Taylor each had 24 assists in the contest.  The scores of the match were:

Freddy Cervantes helped Melrose in its 3-1 win over Sartell at Melrose.  There are club soccer programs for the Melrose boys and girls.

SUPER SATURDAY FOR MELROSE GIRLS
The Melrose Lady Dutchmen teams made it a memory filled Saturday as they competed in tennis, volleyball and swimming
Swimming
Melrose won the Park Rapids in tight contest. the final team scores were  
Team scores: 1. Melrose 509; 2. Brainerd 507; 3. Park Rapids 459; 4. Sauk Centre 270; 5. Detroit Lakes 219; 6. Perham 173; 7. Staples-Motley 155.
Tennis

The Melrose Lady Dutchmen won the Litchfield quadrangular going unbeaten in their three matches.  Melrose 
Melrose defeated Litchfield, Glenco-Silver Lake, and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa to take the crown.
Grace Brang, number two singles, Jailyn Brinkman, number three singles and Kenedy Meyer, number four singles, all went unbeaten on the day. 
Volleyball
The Lady Dutchmen finished second in the Sauk  Rapids Tournament Saturday. Sept. 15.
Melrose defeated Royalton 2-0, Cathedral 2-1 and Elk River 2-0 to qualify for the championship. It fell 2-1 to Sauk Centre. Game scores were 24-26, 25-13 and 15-13.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN FOOTBALL
The Dutchmen defeated Ogilive 39-0 to win their first game of the year.
Melrose finished with six touchdowns in the game. Trevor Sawyer scored on two touchdown runs, caught a for a touchdown and kicked an extra point. Isaac Sawyer scored on a touchdown run (see video below).  Anthony Welle also score on a touchdown run.
Melrose's defense led by  linemen Josh Harren (78) and Mitch Niehaus (57) (photograph) did not give up a first down and held Ogilive to 35-yards total offense.

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN TENNIS
The Lady Dutchmen made it eight straight with a 7-0 win over Sauk Centre at Melrose.
While they won all seven matches, the team did not cruise to a win. The number one singles and number one doubles matches both went three sets.
Sheila Poepping (left) and Elisha Engelmeyer posted a 6-1, 6-3 win at number three doubles, but more  than one point came after the teams reached were tied at 40-40

MELROSE LADY DUTCHMEN TENNIS
Kenedy Meyer (right), number four singles posted wins of 6-3 6-3 as the Lady Dutchmen defeated Benson 7-0 at Melrose.
Only two matches of the contest went to third set. Melrose' Grace Brang did not allow a point as she won at number two singles.
Melrose was ranked ninth in Class A in the latest coached pole.

MELROSE SOCCER
The Melrose Boys soccer team posted a 9-1 win against Chain of Lakes.
The Melrose Girls soccoer team fell 10-2 to Chain of Lakes.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN FOOTBALL
The Dutchmen fell 28-20 in an afternoon game to Glenwood City, Wis., at Chaska.
Melrose rallied for 13 points in the fourth quarter, and had a chance to score, but the drive died on downs.

The 10th ranked Melrose Lady Dutchmen posted a 7-0 win over Lac Qui Parle/Daw-B at Melrose
