Former Lady Dutchmen, and current Melrose triple jump record holder, Amanda (Thieschafer) Smock (right) will represent the US Olympic team in London in the triple jump.

PRAIRIE CENTER HOCKEY
The Melrose Area Public School board voted to allow Browerville High School to be part of the Prairie Centre Hockey program. The Melrose, Sauk Centre. Long Prairie-Grey Eagle have provided the players in the past years.

COACHES APPROVED FOR FOOTBALL
The coaching assignments for Melrose Area High School Football for 2012-13 are:
Co-Head Coaches: Vaughn Glasener and Chuck Noll
Assistant Coaches: Kyle Shaugnessy and Rob Mettenburg.
Ninth grade: Nick Sunderman and Ryan Moscho.
Eighth grade: Dave Hoyt and Larrry Droogsma.
Seventh grade: Daryl Oja and Robert Anderson.

MELROSE DUTCHMEN FOOTBALL
The Melrose home football games will be played in Melrose.
Because the Melrose Area Public  School Board voted to reject all bids for proposed improvements to some athletic fields, the 2012 home football games will be played in Melrose. There had been some talk of playing the games at Collegeville, if the home field was not available.

BRINKMAN WINS TRIPLE JUMP
Hailey Brinkman capped her high school athletic career winning the 2012 Class A Girls triple jump crown. She hit 37-7.75.  Brinkman and Andrea Bartz of Plainview-Elgin Millville tied at that mark. Brinkman's second longest jump was better than Bartz' jump.
